Prostate-Specific Antigen
Prostate-Specific Antigen IHC Select® Anti-Prostate-Specific Antigen, prediluted

PREDILUTED RABBIT ANTI-HUMAN PROSTATE-SPECIFIC ANTIGEN (PSA)
POLYCLONAL ANTIBODY

CATALOG NUMBER: IHCR2052-6
QUANTITY: 6 mL

Description:
INTENDED USE:

For In Vitro Diagnostic Use

PSA (Polyclonal) is intended for laboratory use to qualitatively identify by light microscopy prostatic ductal and secretory epithelia in both normal and neoplastic paraffin-embedded tissues fixed with formalin. PSA specifically binds to antigens located in the cytoplasm of prostatic ductal and secretory epithelia. The clinical interpretation of any staining or its absence should be complemented by morphological studies using proper controls and should be evaluated within the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist.

This antibody has been optimally prediluted for use with Chemicon's IHC Select® Detection Kits (DAB150, DAB500, DET-HP1000, APR150, and APR500).

Alternate Names:  PSA
Protein Type: Polyclonal Antibody
Host: Rabbit
Epitope: prediluted
Specificity: Reacts with ductal and secretory epithelia of the prostate, in both normal and neoplastic tissue. Used as a marker for tumors of prostatic origin.
Immunogen: PSA isolated from pooled human seminal plasma.
Format: Pur

Presentation: Liquid diluted in PBS, pH 7.2 with stabilizers, 0.2% Tween 20, and 0.1% ProClin 300 as preservative.

Storage/Handling: AE1/AE3 is suitable for use 18 months from the point of manufacture when stored at 2-8°C. Do not use after expiration date stamped on vial. If reagents are stored under conditions other than those specified in the package insert, they must be verified by the user.

Tested Applications: IH (Paraffin)

Application Notes: Immunohistochemistry of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues

Ready-to-use when used with IHC Select™ detection kit and protocol. Final working dilutions for alternate methods must be determined by end user.

PRINCIPLE OF PROCEDURE:  PSA (IHC2052-6) may be used as the primary antibody with Chemicon's IHC Select™ Detection Kits. In general, immunohistochemical (IHC) staining techniques allow for the visualization of antigens via the sequential application of a specific antibody to the antigen (primary antibody), a secondary antibody to the primary antibody (link antibody), and enzyme complex and a chromogenic substrate with interposed washing steps. The enzymatic activation of the chromogen results in a visible reaction product at the antigen site. The specimen may then be counterstained and cover slipped. Results are interpreted using a light microscope and aid in the differential diagnosis of pathophysiological processes, which may or may not be associated with a particular antigen.

Incubation: 10 minutes with IHC Select® Detection Kits.

PSA has been prediluted for use as the primary antibody with Chemicon's IHC Select® Detection Kits and Protocols (Catalog Nos. DAB050, DET-HP1000, APR050, and DET-APR1000), but other supplier's IHC detection systems may be used. For optimized protocol details, visit www.chemicon.com and select the protocols link under Cat. No.IHCR2052-6.

Species Reactivity:  Human. Reactivity with other species has not been confirmed.
